The state of treatment of
files, as well as the functioning of the different Services and Units at the
Head Office and the Center Branch Office of the Cameroon Human Rights
Commission (CHRC) have been evaluated by the Chairperson of the CHRC, Professor
James MOUANGUE KOBILA.
The Chairperson
held working sessions with all Heads of services and staff members of the
institution one after another, to examine the
general state of the Services and Units and to discuss the state of documents
under treatment. Other issues equally examined during the working sessions
included the difficulties encountered by staff members while carrying out their
functions and some propositions to ameliorate the proper functioning of these
Services.
From Thursday 6 to Wednesday
12 July 2023, a 30 minutes slot was allocated each to the Division for the
Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, the Center Branch Office, the
Promotion Unit, the Protection Unit, the Observation Investigation and Alert
Unit, the File and Statistics Unit, the Cooperation, Documentation and Research
Service, the General Affairs Service, the Reception Mail and Liaison Service, the
Translation and Interpretation Unit, the Communication Unit, the Security,
Hygiene and Environment Service and finally the Focal Points of the CHRC respectively.
The staff members of the Commission expressed
their satisfaction for the opportunity given to them to express their worries
and needs during these meetings which they described as very instructive.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson who has already begun implementing some of the
propositions made, promised to take into consideration all other positive
suggestions in improving the functioning of the various Services and Units.
