He is a native of Kolofata, in the Far North Region, where he was born on 23 June 1953. He is married with six children.
In 1980, he obtained a degree in Agronomy from the École Nationale Supérieur Agronomique de Nkolbisson. Two years later, he obtained a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies de Pédologie from the University of Paris VII. In 1983, he obtained a degree from ORSTOM in Pedology and Soil Management in Bondy, France, then in 1990, he obtained a PhD in Agro-Pedology from the University of Yaoundé.
As regards his professional career, from 1984 to 1991, he was Head of the IRAD National Soil Centre in Maroua and, from 1991 to 1993, Deputy Head of the IRAD Regional Centre in Maroua. From 1993 to 1998, he was Head of the IRAD Regional Research Centre and Head of the Garoua II Project. From 1998 to 2012, he was Director General of the Pôle Régional de Recherche Appliquée au Développement des Systèmes Agricoles d’Afrique Centrale (PRASAC), a specialised institution of CEMAC, based in N’Djamena (Chad).
In February 2021, he was appointed Member of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC) by decree of the Head of State.
