Prof. Joyce BAYANDE MBONGO épse ENDELEY,

Professor Joyce BAYANDE MBONGO épse ENDELEY holds a PhD in Agricultural Extension Education, with three specialty modules, namely: Agricultural Extension with emphasis on Programme Planning and Evaluation, Research Methodology and Women in Development, which she obtained in 1987 from Ohio State University, USA, after a M.Sc. in Agricultural Extension Education (1982) from the University of Reading, UK, and a B.Sc. in the same discipline (University of Ibadan, Nigeria, 1981).
She has spent most of her academic career at the University of Buea, Cameroon, where she has risen through almost all the ranks of responsibility, often pioneering in certain positions, including Head of the Department of Women and Gender Studies from 1993 to 2011, Head of the Department of Agriculture at the Higher Technical Teachers’ Training College in Kumba, under the academic supervision of the University of Buea, and then as the first Director of that school from 2014 to 2015. She was also Vice-Dean, then Director in charge of Academic Affairs, and Vice-Rector in charge of Teaching, Professionalization and Development of Information and Communication Technologies.
Professor Joyce ENDELEY, a Full Professor, also distils her knowledge as a lecturer in other public and private universities, such as the University of Dschang, the Pan-African University Institute for Social Sciences, Governance and Humanities at the University of Yaoundé II-Soa, and the Cameroon Christian University (CCU). At international level she has served as adjunct Professor, resource person and external examiner in several universities in Africa (Business School, University of Witwatersrand and University of Makerer), USA (University of Yale, CASE Western Reserve University, University of North Carolina and University of Wisconsin), Britain (CCCRW of the University of Oxford), etc.
She has written and co-authored a number of articles in scientific journals in her field of expertise and directed numerous research projects and theses, both as a recipient and as a guarantor of several award and grant programmes, including European Union –African Union Commission Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Schemes/projects.
Furthermore, she demonstrated her expertise in agriculture, and gender and development, gender equality and women’s empowerment, Rights of Women/Girls and gender-responsive policy management initiative as a consultant for numerous national and international projects conducted by organisations such as the International Development Research Centre (IDRC/CIDA), UNDP/UNOPS, the Commonwealth Secretariat, Plan International Cameroon, UNICEF, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the United State AGSP-EDDI Programme, and several state GOs and local NGOs such as MINPROFF, Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA).
Her career to date has earned her numerous recognitions and awards both inside and outside the country, including the title of honorary member of the International Research Society on African Women and the medal of Knight of the Order of Valour. On 19 February 2021, Professor Joyce ENDELEY was appointed a member of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission by presidential decree.
