CHRC present at SAGO 2024

On Monday 22 July 2024, the CHRC had a large team manning its stand at SAGO.
The day’s activities began with the installation of personnel from the technical units, namely the Promotion Unit, the Communication Unit, the Protection Unit and OIA. Who manned the stand from 8.30 a.m. To 5 p.m.
The official opening ceremony of SAGO was presided over by the Minister of Communication, representing the Prime Minister, Head of Government. It was well attended by numerous other members of the government, including the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training.
The CHRC was represented at the official opening ceremony by Commissioner Bouba Hawe Haman, who subsequently visited the CHRC stand. She was accompanied by a large delegation of staff, including the Assistant Research Officers No. 1, 3 and 4, and the head of CELCOM.
At the end of the day, the statistics recorded showed that 80 visitors had been registered, including a visitor to the Legal Clinic.
As journalists passed by, interviews were conducted to disseminate information about the CHRC’s activities to their audiences. The stand’s sound system was also used to broadcast the CHRC’s messages to the public in the country’s two official languages. This was done by Ms Bilana, who was assisted by CELCOM’s journalist colleagues.
Additionally, the day was distinguished by the presence of numerous staff members, who paid visits to the stand. Among them were:
– the CDPP
– the Centre Branch Head
– the Financial Controller
– the Chief of staff of the Vice-Chair’s Office
– Assistant Research Officer No. 3
– the senior staff at the Secretariat of the PS
– the Chief of bureau of Administrative Affairs
– senior staff members and trainees working under the Permanent Secretariat.
The Commission stand was closed at 6:30 p.m.
A door-to-door strategy will be adopted the following day for the promotion and protection of human rights. The objective is to disseminate information about the CHRC’s mission and how to contact it, particularly through its toll-free number 1523, to visitors and the general public.
The dress code will be green (and black).
The images presented herewith are intended to convey the vibrant atmosphere on the stand and the considerable number of visitors in attendance. This is evidence of the public’s interest in the CHRC’s work to promote and protect human rights, and to prevent torture.
