The Regional Coordination of the Cameroon Freedom Observatory (CFO) organised open days in partnership with the CHRC Littoral Branch Office, from 7 to 8 March 2024.
The aim of the open days was to spread the CFO missions. Mr Abena Yvan, Head of the Police and Administrative Organisation Division in the Region, and representative of the Governor of the Littoral Region, took part in this activity.
Commissioner Jean-Marc Ngalle Mbonjo, also took part, as the representative of the CHRC Chairperson and of civil society organisations that are members of the CFO.
Mrs Béatrice Onana, Regional Coordinator of CFO Littoral, began her speech by presenting the CFO activities. She then highlighted the most recurrent alleged human rights violations in the Littoral Region. Finally, she requested the government authorities to provide support for the CFO missions.
In his opening speech, the representative of the Littoral Governor, welcomed this initiative and indicated the interest of the Head of State and Government in the promotion and protection of rights, reflected by the establishment of the CHRC.
Similarly, Commissioner Ngalle highlighted the particular importance Prof James Mouangue Kobila, the Chairperson of the CHRC, attaches to the protection of women’s rights. He also urged women to be more involved in the defence of human rights.
The official phase ended with a tour of the stands.
It should be noted that CFO Littoral, through these open days, intends to intensify its activities on the field.
