The Director of ASF provided a detailed overview of the four components of the PAGOC project: capacity building for criminal justice stakeholders, legal assistance for detainees, enhancement of detention conditions and advocacy for the adoption of alternatives to imprisonment.
The CHRC Vice-chairperson reassured his guests that the project is fully aligned with the CHRC’s objectives, particularly its mandate to prevent torture in all detention facilities nationwide. Furthermore, he pledged to keep Prof James Mouangue Kobila, the CHRC Chairperson, apprised of the consortium’s expectations regarding the Commission’s support.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the consortium representative expressed satisfaction with the discussions, which indicate a promising collaboration with the CHRC for the effective implementation of PAGOC.
