On 4 September 2024, Prof James Mouangue Kobila, Chairperson of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC) granted audience to Mr Ngalim Eugine Nyuydine, former Chairperson of the Peace and Security Cluster of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) from 2015 to 2019 and President of the Cameroon Youths and Students Forum for Peace (CAMYOSFOP). Mr Ngalim Eugine Nyuydine was accompanied by two of his collaborators namely:
Ms Fonye Delphine, programmes associate of CAMYOSFOP and
Ms Amaa Francisca Tamako, research and policy development officer of CAMYOSFOP.
Prof James Mouangue Kobila, was accompanied during the audience by:
Mr Denis Nkwebo, Commissioner of the CHRC
Mr Ferikouop Mamouda, Chief of staff of the Chairperson’s Office
Ms Shu Nyamboli, Acting Head, Cooperation, Documentation and Research Service
Ms Atud Cynthia Tifuh, senior staff of the Communication Unit.
The audience which lasted for about one hour was mainly aimed at presenting to the Chairperson of the CHRC, an award granted to Mr Ngalim Eugine Nyuydine in recognition of his outstanding efforts to render operational, the Livingstone Formula on the involvement of the civil society in the promotion of peace, security and the stability of Africa. The guest provided the Chairperson of the CHRC with details of his activities on arms control with the State of Cameroon and the 10 other member States of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).
During the audience, avenues for cooperation between the CHRC and the Non-Governmental Organisation, Cameroon Youth and Students Forum for Peace (CAMYOSFOP), headed by Mr Ngalim, were discussed. The Chairperson of the CHRC expressed great enthusiasm for the proposed joint initiative on human rights education in schools and universities, and for the revival of the Human Rights Excellence Award with these partners.
