Geneva: The CHRC at the close-doors Inter-mechanisms meeting to improve advocacy for human rights defenders

On 27 March 2024, Prof James MOUANGUE KOBILA, the Chairperson of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC), actively participated in the 55th session of the Human Rights Council during which the Report on the Universal Periodic Review of Cameroon was adopted, He also took part in the close-door inter-agency meeting on the theme “Protection of Human Rights Defenders: What Avenues for More Effective International Advocacy?”
The meeting, which also took place at the Palace of the Nations, was organised by the Centre for Civil and Political Rights (CCPR), in collaboration with Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, l’Association francophone des commissions nationales de Droits de l’homme (AFCNDH) and the Secretariat of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
The Chairperson of the CHRC, who was the only representative of a national human rights institution (NHRI), attended the conference as a special guest. The participants welcomed his presence at the event and praised his contribution to the decisions.
