Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration of Ex-Terrorists : CHRC briefs UNDP Experts

The Cameroon Human Rights Commission, led by its Chairperson, Prof James Mouangue Kobila, played host to two experts from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) visiting from New York, at the CHRC Head Office, on 9 February 2022.
UNDP Peter Olowo and Dr Konare El Hadji Malick, respectively Programme Specialist and Stabilisation Policy and Programme Expert, came to discuss the National Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) programme with CHRC.
Commissioners Prof Joyce Bayande Mbongo épse Endeley, the Chairperson of the Sub-Commission on Human Rights Promotion and Dr Seiny Boukar Lamine , a member of the Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Torture in Places of Detention, shared their expertise to provide the meeting with valuable insights.
During the meeting that lasted for an hour, both parties discussed the missions of the CHRC, the policies implemented for DDR, progress made so far, challenges, and prospects for increased support from the United Nations.
