The discussions focused on strengthening every child’s right to a legal identity. Professor Mouangue Kobila emphasised legal identity as a “root right” essential to the enjoyment of all other rights, recalling the challenges of birth registration.

On her part, Ms Dongmo presented the OIF’s civil registration project, stressing its inclusive approach, legislative reforms, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and technical tools. She also highlighted achievements in Cameroon, such as 5,400 birth certificates delivered in the Far North.

In conclusion, the CHRC reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting initiatives that consolidate identity as the cornerstone of human rights protection.
